Ministry of the Eucharist

Eucharistic ministers assist priests and deacons in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly during the Communion Rite of the Liturgy. Eucharistic ministers also take Communion to the sick and shut-ins of our parish. Eucharistic ministers are prayerful and filled with the desire and commitment not only to be partakers of Christ’s Body and Blood, but to become the Eucharist and live it.

Qualifications for the ministry include:

  • being a practicing Catholic fully initiated (baptized, confirmed and having received First Holy Communion)
  • being a registered parishioner of St. Joseph's or Immaculate Conception Community
  • being of mature demeanor with a willingness to serve fellow parishioners
  • willing to attend scheduled training and ongoing formation opportunities
  • having the approval of the pastor
